District Assembly approves Integrated Development Vision Qila Saifullah

IDV Qila SaifullahA special session of the District Assembly was held under the chairmanship of senior member of the presiding panel, Aminullah Khan. Maulvi Anwar ud din, District Nazim, Qamber Dashti, District Coordination Officer and Dr. Abdul Majeed, Head, IUCN Balochistan Programme Office attended the session. Union Council Nazims, Executive District Officers of various departments and media persons were also present on the occasion.

The secretary of the District Assembly informed the council members that the session had one point agenda and was called to discuss the Integrated Development Vision (IDV).

He also informed them that the IDV was prepared with the technical and financial support of IUCN. The chairman then invited Mr. Abdul Latif Rao, consultant, to present the final draft of the document. Mr. Rao briefed the assembly members on the document and informed them that the document is divided into two parts. The first part is on State of Environment and Development and the second part consists of Integrated Development Vision. He said all the available secondary data was collected from various sources and extensive consultations were done during preparation of the document. He advised the members to utilize the IDV during future development projects of the district.

After his presentation, the council members asked various questions and gave their comments and suggestions. District Nazim Maulvi Anwar-ud-din appreciated the efforts of IUCN especially in supporting the district government in preparing IDV. He said due to the efforts of IUCN, they now have a document which has been prepared in consultation with political leadership, elected representatives, civil society organizations, tribal elders, media persons and academia. The document will be helpful in prioritizing the issues. The district government will mobilize its own resources to contact federal and provincial governments, non governmental organizations and donors to implement the recommendations of the Vision, he added.

After thorough discussions, the members of the District Assembly unanimously passed the IDV Qila Saifullah. District Coordinator and Assistant District Coordinator, IUCN Qila Saifullah Office thanked the District Nazim, District Naib Nazim, District Officer for Planning & Finance and council members for approving the document.
